Andrei wanted to work in the communications industry, could not find a job in an agency, but was not going to give up on his plans too easily. Grațiela had a career in sales, but was ready to take a new challenge, and Laurențiu had a feeling: email marketing would be a "game changer" on the Romanian market where just a handful of digital agencies existed, and the main source of information was bumerang.ro.
Challenge accepted! The first long-term plan was noted down on paper: the plan was to become market leaders in email marketing within five years, and play a role in the development of the local digital industry. We started working: we bought a software license and Orion Electronics became our first client. Once we got past this first “hurdle”, potential clients began to realise that the future was digital. Those who were still reluctant to change, arguing that the vast majority of the target audience did not have access to email and that traditional methods of promotion should not yet be abandoned just remained behind.
That is how it all started... This is how email marketing arrived in Romania because, yes, you got that well..., we were the ones who brought the concept in our country in 2003. Even so, we never presented ourselves as a service provider, but as marketing enthusiasts. Our start in a "blue ocean” was not a walk in the park, because we were working in a newly created market where increasingly powerful competitors could come up anytime. That is why we knew what we had to do to make it work the way we wanted: we had to build our own technologies. And we took action.
